Joy Avila is an Account Manager at GOAT.tax, where she serves as the primary point of contact for clients and CPA partners through the R&D tax credit process, from onboarding through final deliverable. Joy has spent five years with the firm's R&D practice, progressing from quality review to project management to account management, so she knows a study from the inside before she manages one for a client. She began her career at Deloitte working with Enterprise Zone tax credits and the Work Opportunity Tax Credit, and later held roles in payroll tax at ADP and financial analysis in corporate accounting at Carl's Jr. That range spans the credit landscape as well as the payroll tax mechanics that matter to startups claiming the R&D credit against payroll. Joy holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance with a minor in Real Estate and Business Law from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
